Online Signing Ceremony Between Xiamen University and Cardiff University on Strategic Partnership on 14 Jan 2022

On 14 January 2022, Cardiff University and Xiamen University held a virtual ceremony to renew their Strategic Partnership which was initially signed in 2016. A formal in-person ceremony will follow post pandemic.

The collaboration has already delivered on new initiatives underpinned by a collaborative mobility fund from both universities to support staff and student exchanges

Key activities have included Dentistry, Optometry, Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Music and Modern Languages with further collaboration planned in journalism, Law, Computer Science, Engineering and Architecture. 

The Cardiff Confucius Institute was launched in 2008 as a partnership with Xiamen University and provides high quality Chinese language teaching and strengthens links between Cardiff University and Xiamen University to the benefit of both communities, and more broadly, both peoples.

There are almost 500 Confucius Institutes around the world, and each one serves its community in a different way. The focus of Cardiff Confucius Institute is on language teaching and is supported by the vast breadth of expertise based at the School of Modern Languages.
